The feature documentary follows the often indistinct footsteps of Archduke Wilhelm of Austria from his childhood days on the Adriatic to Poland, where his father moved the family seat, and on to the former crown land of Galicia, today’s western Ukraine, where he commanded his own regiment as an officer in the Imperial and Royal Army. Army, where he commanded his own regiment.
But was Wilhelm’s vision of a kingdom of Ukraine under his sceptre ever more than a fanciful dream? Historians from Austria, the Ukraine and the USA, which assess Wilhelm’s political activities in the context of the eventful and bloody history of the 20th century. The interrogation protocols of the former Soviet secret service, accessible for the first time KGBform the basis for play scenes that are intended to bring us closer to the man William of Habsburg.
